Sheltrown, Stahl, Bieda, Accavitti, Ball, Booher, Brown, Byrnes, Clack, Constan, Cushingberry, Dean, Elsenheimer, Espinoza, Farrah, Garfield, Gillard, Gonzales, Green, Hammel, Hammon, Hansen, Horn, Rick Jones, Robert Jones, Lahti, LeBlanc, Leland, Lemmons, Marleau, Mayes, McDowell, Melton, Nitz, Pearce, Polidori, Proos, Sak, Shaffer, Spade, Vagnozzi and Wojno offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 143.

A resolution recognizing July 1 - 7, 2007, as Dietary Manager's Association Week in the state of Michigan.

            Whereas, Certified Dietary Managers (CDMs) work in hundreds of healthcare facilities across the state and in thousands across the entire nation; and

            Whereas, CDMs provide foodservice safety and sanitation protection for all types of facilities.  They work in hospitals, Veterans Administration facilities, nursing homes, schools and other non-commercial foodservice settings; and

            Whereas, CDMs are a diverse group of professionals. There are CDMs from around the globe and of all ethnic backgrounds.  They are of all different ages, ranging from the young, students with proctors, to the elder baby boomers now beginning retirement; and

            Whereas, CDMs are certified by, to name a few, the University of Florida in Gainesville, University of North Dakota, University of California and Lansing Community College; and

Whereas, CDMs attend seminars throughout the year to keep them updated with the latest foodservice industry changes. They receive an additional certification of "CFPP" (Certified Food Protection Professionals) which expands on the safety and sanitation aspects of the entire foodservice industry.  CDMs are also certified in ServSafe, a program designed to provide additional safety and protection to the thousands of residents that they support in foodservice areas; and

            Whereas, CDMs have continual online communication with the networks of the foodservice industry.  This provides them with information regarding state regulations and any changes that need to be addressed; and

            Whereas, CDMs have been a growing industry for decades and it is time that they are  congratulated for all the dedication they have shown every day of the year in all of the facilities where they monitor the safety of foodservice; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body recognize July 1 - 7, 2007, as Dietary Manager's Association Week in the state of Michigan.
