The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:
House Resolution No. 486.
A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Bill Huizenga.
Whereas, For 6 years, Representative Bill Huizenga has represented the people of his Ninetieth District in Ottawa County. First elected in 2002, Representative Huizenga won reelection in 2004 and 2006, focusing his legislative efforts on vital economic and business issues. His background as a director of public policy in a United States House of Representatives office, co-owner of a Michigan business, and work in real estate gave him great insights into the private sector and legislative perspectives of our economy; and
Whereas, During his legislative tenure, Representative Huizenga has served both the legislature and his party in leadership positions, with appointments as chair of the House Commerce Committee, assistant majority floor leader, co-chair of the Joint Select Committee on Oversight of the 21st Century Jobs Fund, and minority vice chair of the New Economy and Quality of Life Committee, as well as other assignments; and
Whereas, Representative Huizenga's commitment to contributing to business, financial, and tax legislation has upheld the highest standards of the House of Representatives. We join together in thanking him as we prepare to complete this session of the Ninety-fourth Legislature, and wish him well in his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we honor Representative Bill Huizenga as he concludes his service with the Michigan House of Representatives; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Huizenga as evidence of our esteem.
