The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of Representatives, offered the following resolution:

            House Resolution No. 489.

            A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Kathleen Law.

            Whereas, It is an honor and a privilege to extend our gratitude to Representative Kathleen Law as she brings to a close her tenure of service as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives. Over the course of the past 6 years, Kathleen Law has developed an outstanding reputation as a lawmaker. Her hard work on behalf of her constituents in the Twenty-third Representative District and on behalf of all of the people in the Great Lakes State testify to her character and her strong belief in our system of self government. She is to be commended; and

            Whereas, Kathleen Law entered the Michigan House of Representatives with a wealth of experience in local government and in a variety of local organizations protecting our scarce natural resources and recreational opportunities. These experiences and insights paid great dividends in her work as a lawmaker in the House. Kathleen Law was the vice chair of the Governmental Operations Committee and served on the Committees on Agriculture; Great Lakes and Environment; and Tourism, Outdoor Recreation, and Natural Resources; and

            Whereas, Representative Law was a highly respected lawmaker who played a key role in helping to develop long-term water policy in our state. She also dedicated herself to efforts to enhance economic development and other policies designed to promote the future of our state. She clearly embodied the true spirit of public service and personal commitment during her 3 terms as a member of the House. As her work through this legislative body comes to a close we wish her the best; now, therefore, be it

            Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we hereby offer this expression of tribute to commend and thank the Honorable Kathleen Law for her notable contributions to this legislative body and our entire state; and be it further

            Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Law as evidence of our gratitude and best wishes.
