Complete to 3-3-09
A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4053 AS INTRODUCED 1-22-09
The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to designate highway M-188 in Eaton County as the "Elgie G. Hanna Memorial Highway."
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Elgie Hanna was the only alumnus of Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home for Children to be killed in action during the Vietnam War. The National Home is a facility created to care for the developmental, social, and spiritual needs of the children and families of Veterans of Foreign Wars. It is located in Eaton County.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Section 2 of the Michigan Memorial Highway Act indicates that the state transportation department shall only provide for the erection of suitable markers indicating the name of the highway "when sufficient private contributions are received to completely cover the cost of erecting and maintaining those markers." As a result, the bill has no state or local fiscal impact.
