A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5221 AS INTRODUCED 8-04-09
House Bill 5221 would repeal authorization for the laboratory data quality recognition program. No funds have been appropriated and no staff is assigned to support this voluntary private sector laboratory program. The DEQ can ensure data quality through existing contractual language applying quality control standards and benchmarks.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Fee revenue has never materialized. Consequently, no revenues will be transferred to the State General Fund.
This legislation is consistent with the Governor’s FY 2009-10 budget recommendation for the Department of Environmental Quality.
