SENATE BILL No. 478

     A bill to amend 1953 PA 232, entitled

 

"Corrections code of 1953,"

 

(MCL 791.201 to 791.285) by adding section 7b.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 7b. (1) Not later than 6 months after the effective date

 

of the amendatory act that added this section, and every 4 years

 

after that date, the department shall report in writing to the

 

legislature on the department's offender tracking information

 

system. The report shall include information on the offender

 

tracking information system's effectiveness and cost, and the

 

technology used in its operation.

 

     (2) Copies of the report shall be delivered to the secretary

 

of the senate and the clerk of the house of representatives, and to

 

the chairpersons of the standing committees of the senate and house


 

of representatives having responsibility for legislation pertaining

 

to the department.

 

     (3) As used in this section, "offender tracking information

 

system" means the system operated by the department that provides

 

internet users with information about prisoners, parolees, and

 

probationers who are or were under the supervision of the

 

department.
