A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled
"The social welfare act,"
(MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 10c.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 10c. (1) Not later than 60 days after the effective date
of the amendatory act that added this section, the department shall
establish a program of random substance abuse testing as a
condition of eligibility for assistance under this act.
(2) If a recipient tests positive for substance abuse, the
recipient shall be ineligible to receive assistance under this act
for not less than 180 days. After 180 days, the recipient shall be
retested for substance abuse and must test negative for substance
abuse in order to have his or her assistance restored.
