A bill to amend 1964 PA 287, entitled
"An act to provide for the organization and functions of the state
boards of education under the constitutions of 1908 and 1963; to
provide for the appointment and functions of the superintendent of
public instruction under the constitution of 1963; and to repeal
certain acts and parts of acts,"
(MCL 388.1001 to 388.1017) by adding section 10a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 10a. (1) The state board of education shall encourage and
support cooperative arrangements between high schools and public
universities and community colleges to establish programs to allow
pupils to earn college credit while enrolled in high school.
(2) The state board of education shall encourage, and
coordinate efforts by, public universities to establish a common
core curriculum for first- and second-year students who are
enrolled in any public university in this state.
