     A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

 

"The Michigan penal code,"

 

by amending section 72 (MCL 750.72).

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 72. (1) Burning dwelling house—Any A person who wilfully

 

willfully or maliciously burns any a dwelling house, either

 

occupied or unoccupied, or the contents thereof of a dwelling

 

house, whether owned by himself the person or another, or any a

 

building within the curtilage of such a dwelling house, or the

 

contents thereof of a dwelling house, shall be is guilty of a

 

felony , punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for not

 

more than 20 years, except as provided under this section.

 

     (2) If a person violates subsection (1) by burning a dwelling

 

house that is a multiunit building, the person is guilty of a

 


felony punishable by imprisonment for life or any term of years.

 

     (3) As used in this section, "dwelling house" means a building

 

in which people live, including, but not limited to, single-family

 

homes and multiunit buildings.
