A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1312a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1312a. (1) A school official or a person employed by or
engaged as a volunteer or contractor by a public school shall not
conduct a search that involves any of the following:
(a) Conducting a body cavity search of a pupil manually or
with an instrument.
(b) Removing or arranging any or all of the clothing of a
pupil to permit a visual inspection of the underclothing, breast,
buttocks, or genitalia of the pupil.
(2) This section does not affect the admissibility of evidence
in a subsequent juvenile or criminal proceeding.
