A bill to amend 1958 PA 204, entitled
"An act to fix the compensation and mileage of constitutional
convention delegates,"
by amending sections 1, 2, and 3 (MCL 2.51, 2.52, and 2.53),
section 3 as amended by 2002 PA 363.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1. Each seated delegate to a convention for revising the
constitution
of Michigan this
state shall receive for his or her
services
the sum of $500.00 semi-monthly $1.00
per month,
commencing on the day the delegate is seated and continuing to the
final adjournment of the convention or until a vacancy in his or
her
seat if a vacancy should sooner occur. No
delegate shall
receive
more than $7,500.00, and each seated delegate shall be
entitled
to at least $1,000.00 as the constitution provides.
Sec.
2. Each seated delegate shall receive 10 cents per mile
and
the prevailing rate
per mile, as established by the internal
revenue service for business miles driven, for no more for 1 round
trip per month between his or her place of residence and the state
capitol each month during which the constitutional convention is in
session.
Sec.
3. The compensation for services shall be paid semi-
monthly,
and the mileage shall be
paid monthly , by the
state
treasurer, prepared from vouchers submitted by the secretary of the
convention, out of appropriations made for the expenses of the
convention, in accordance with the accounting laws of this state.
