SENATE BILL No. 1364

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled

 

"Michigan campaign finance act,"

 

(MCL 169.201 to 169.282) by adding section 55d.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 55d. (1) A corporation or joint stock company shall not

 

make an independent expenditure if that corporation or joint stock

 

company is incorporated in a foreign country, is a subsidiary of a

 

corporation or joint stock company incorporated in a foreign

 

country, receives any financing from or is subsidized in any way by

 

a source in a foreign country, has a shareholder or individual

 

member who is not a United States citizen, or has a corporate

 

officer who is not a United States citizen.


 

     (2) A person shall not make an independent expenditure using

 

money that the person has received from a corporation or joint

 

stock company prohibited from making an independent expenditure

 

under this act.
