House Resolution No. 326.    

A resolution to declare October 6, 2012, as Men's Health Awareness Day in the state of Michigan. 

Whereas, The Michigan Institute of Urology (MIU) is the largest multi-subspecialty urology practice in Michigan, comprised of 55 associate and partner urologists. The practice spans southeastern Michigan and is affiliated with most of the major hospital organizations; and

Whereas, MIU Men's Health Foundation (the Foundation), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has worked tirelessly toward increasing awareness of men's health issues, including prostate cancer; and

Whereas, The Foundation has also supported educational seminars throughout southeastern Michigan dedicated to men’s health topics; and

Whereas, MIU Men's Health Foundation is hosting the second annual Men's Health Event on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Ford Field; and

Whereas, The Men's Health Event will feature free health screenings, include testing prostatic specific antigen, testosterone, glucose and cholesterol levels, in addition to taking vitals measurements, BMI analysis, body fat percentage, vision screening, dental screenings and oral examinations, gait analysis and depression screening; and

Whereas , The Men's Health Foundation offers all of these services at the Men's Health Event without requiring health insurance; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare October 6, 2012, as Men's Health Awareness Day in the state of Michigan.
