A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5064 AS PASSED BY THE HOUSE
The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to designate the portion of highway I-75 within the State of Michigan as the "Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Highway."
The bill was amended in the House to specify that (should sufficient private contributions be received) markers would only be placed along highway I-75 within five miles of the border between Michigan and Ohio and five miles of the border between Michigan and Canada.
Proposed MCL 250.1084
FISCAL IMPACT:
Section 2 of the Michigan Memorial Highway Act indicates that the State Transportation Department shall only provide for the erection of suitable markers indicating the name of the highway "when sufficient private contributions are received to completely cover the cost of erecting and maintaining those markers." As a result, the bill has no state or local fiscal impact.
