Committee:  Regulatory Reform

Complete to 3-10-14

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5396 AS INTRODUCED 3-6-14

The bill would amend the Occupational Code to reduce the number hours that a barber college must offer in its educational program from 250 hours to 225 hours of classroom study, demonstrations, and recitations; and from 1,750 hours to 1,575 hours of practical barber training.

The hours are one of the requirements a barber college must meet in order to be licensed by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.  The department must issue a license when a barber college meets all statutory requirements.
