CONTENT

 

The bill would amend Article 11 (Barbers) of the Occupational Code to reduce the number of hours of study in the educational requirement for licensure as a barber.

 

Under Article 11, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs must issue a license to practice as a barber to an individual who fulfills certain requirements.  One of those requirements is that the person demonstrates satisfactory completion of not less than a 2,000-hour course of study at a licensed barber college.  Under the bill, the course of study would have to be at least 1,800 hours.
