CONTENT
The bill would amend the Insurance Code to provide that, notwithstanding any law to the contrary, an insurer or health maintenance organization (HMO) that is authorized under the Code to offer and sell disability insurance or HMO contracts in Michigan could not be required to offer and sell its products, exclusively or partially, through an exchange created in Michigan for the purposes described in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as amended by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act. Additionally, notwithstanding any law to the contrary, an insurer or HMO that otherwise met that Act's requirements could not be prohibited from offering or selling its products through such an exchange.
