CONTENT

 

The bill would amend the Motor Carrier Safety Act to provide, except for Section 6, the Act and the rules promulgated under it would not apply to a motor bus as defined in, and for which a certificate of authority was issued under, the Motor Bus Transportation Act.  (Section 6 requires motor carriers, upon request, to give transportation safety-related documents to any member of the Motor Carrier Division of the Michigan State Police.)

 

The bill also would delete a provision that exempts a driver of a public utility service vehicle being used in the case of an emergency from the requirements of 49 CFR Part 395 (which governs hours of service for drivers).
