A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 248c.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 248c. (1) An individual who presents or offers to a
public office or a public employee a written instrument that
relates to or affects real or personal property or an interest in
real or personal property or that directly affects a contractual
relationship with the knowledge that the instrument will be
registered, filed, or recorded or become a part of the records of
the public office or public employee, with the knowledge that the
instrument contains a material false statement or material false
information, and with the intent to defraud is guilty of offering a
false instrument for recording.
(2) An individual who offers a false instrument for recording
is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more
than 1 year or a fine of not more than $6,000.00, or both.
