Rep. Kenneth Kurtz, from the 58th District, offered the following invocation:

“O Lord, our Lord! How majestic is Your name in all the Earth. In our times of need may we not forget that You cared for the little sparrow that falls from the sky. May we not forget how You fed the multitude with just 5 loaves and 2 fishes. How when the storms were gathering, out in the sea, You calmed the storm. When we go astray may we never forget the example when You left the ninety-nine, to be reminded that You’re not willing that any should perish, but all will come of You with repentance. When we feel as if we have no hope, may we be reminded that there is a land that is fairer than day. By faith we can see it afar; For our Father waits over the way and has prepared us a dwelling place there, in the sweet by and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore. Yes in the sweet by and by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore. Say Amen with me will you?”
