FIRE ALARM CONTRACTOR/TECHNICIAN S.B. 1025:
SUMMARY OF BILL
REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE
Senate Bill 1025 (as reported without amendment)
Sponsor: Senator Darwin L. Booher
CONTENT
The bill would amend the Electrical Administrative Act to revise the definitions of "fire alarm specialty technician" and "fire alarm contractor".
Currently, "fire alarm specialty technician" means a person who, as his or her principal occupation, is engaged in the practical installation or alteration of fire alarm system wiring. The bill instead would refer to an individual who, as his or her principal occupation, is engaged in the design and practical installation or alteration of fire alarm systems.
Also, "fire alarm contractor" means a person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business of erecting, installing, altering, repairing, servicing, or maintaining wiring, devices, appliances, or equipment of a fire alarm system. The bill would refer to an individual or legal entity, rather than a person, firm, or corporation.
The bill would take effect 90 days after enactment.
