CONTENT

 

The bill would amend the handgun licensure law to do the following:

 

 --    Exempt an individual currently employed as a police officer, certified under the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Act, from the requirement to obtain a license to purchase, carry, possess, use, or transport a pistol.

 --    Require the seller's record of a pistol sale to a police officer to include the number of the officer's certificate under that Act.

 --    Require the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards to give certificate information to the Department of State Police to verify requirements under the bill.

 

The bill would take effect 90 days after its enactment.
