A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled
"Michigan vehicle code,"
by amending section 311 (MCL 257.311), as amended by 1983 PA 63;
and to repeal acts and parts of acts.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec.
311. (1) The A
licensee shall have his or her
operator's
or chauffeur's license, or the receipt described in section 311a,
in his or her immediate possession at all times when operating a
motor
vehicle, and shall display the same his or her operator's or
chauffeur's license, or the receipt described in section 311a, upon
demand
of any police officer , who shall
identify identifies
himself
or herself as such.a
police officer.
(2) If an individual has received a citation for a violation
of subsection (1), the court shall waive any fine, costs, or
assessment upon receipt of a certification by a law enforcement
agency that the individual, before the appearance date on the
citation, has produced his or her operator's or chauffeur's license
and that the license was valid on the date the violation of
subsection (1) occurred.
Enacting section 1. Section 901a of the Michigan vehicle code,
1949 PA 300, MCL 257.901a, is repealed.
Enacting section 2. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
