SUMMARY:
Senate Bill 1253 would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to specifically allow a local authority to designate a highway under its jurisdiction as a two-way highway.
Section 606 of the Code currently states that Chapter 6 (Obedience to and Effect of Traffic Laws) does not prevent a local authority, with respect to streets or highways under its jurisdiction, from designating particular highways as one-way highways. The bill would add that Chapter 6 does not prevent a local authority from designating particular highways under its jurisdiction as two-way highways.
The bill would take effect 90 days after being enacted into law.
