SUMMARY:

House Bill 6000 would repeal a section of the Michigan Fireworks Safety Act that required the fire marshal to provide a report to the Legislature by October 1, 2013 pertaining to the costs of inspections of retail locations selling fireworks for the purpose of establishing a consumer fireworks certificate fee.

House Bill 6002 would amend the Stille-DeRossett-Hale Single State Construction Code to delete a statutory reference to the section of the Michigan Fireworks Safety Act that would be repealed by House Bill 6000. The bill is tie-barred to House Bill 6000, meaning that unless that bill were also enacted, House Bill 6002 could not take effect.

FISCAL IMPACT:

House Bill 6000 would not have a significant fiscal impact on any unit of state or local government. The bill would delete a report required from the State Fire Marshal, which would not affect expenditures or revenues.
