CONTENT

The bill would amend the Highway Advertising Act to prohibit a billboard from advertising the purchase or consumption of, or facilitating access to, marihuana or marihuana-infused products.

Notwithstanding any other provision of the Act, all billboards within the State are subject to the Act and are prohibited from advertising the purchase or consumption of tobacco products. A person who violates this prohibition is responsible for a civil fine of at least $5,000 but not more than $10,000 for each day of violation.

Under the bill, subject to the same penalty, the Act also would prohibit a billboard from advertising the purchase or consumption of, or facilitating access to, marihuana and marihuana-infused products, as defined in the Public Health Code and the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, respectively.
