CONTENT

 

The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to designate the portion of Highway I-196 in the City of Holland as the "Marine Daniel Price Memorial Highway".

 

The bill would take effect 90 days after its enactment.

BACKGROUND

 

Gunnery Sergeant Daniel J. Price, of Holland, Michigan, was killed in action while conducting combat operations in Badghis province in Afghanistan on July 29, 2012. He had entered the Marine Corps in July of 2003, and was assigned to 1st Marine Special Operation Battalion, United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command. He served six combat tours, three in Afghanistan and three in Iraq, and received a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, a Navy and Marine Achievement Medal, three Good Conduct Medals, and three Combat Action Ribbons.
