CONTENT
The bill would amend Public Act 8 of 1897, which provides permanent headquarters in the Capitol Building as the Michigan veterans' headquarters, to do the following:
-- Eliminate a requirement for a room in the State Capitol Building to be set aside as the Michigan veterans' headquarters.
-- Require the Michigan State Capitol Commission to provide, within the Capitol Building, recognition for the contributions of veterans to Michigan.
-- Require the Commission to display within the Capitol Building one or more suitable plaques commemorating the services of Michigan residents in the United States Armed Forces and Michigan National Guard, in addition to those commemorating the Grand Army of the Republic.
-- Eliminate a requirement that the custodian of the Michigan veterans' headquarters receive compensation.
