IN COMMITTEE
House Bill 4574 (as passed by the House)
Sponsor: Representative Daire Rendon
House Committee: Transportation and Infrastructure
Senate Committee: Transportation
CONTENT
The bill would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to revise the information that must be included on a windshield placard issued to a disabled person.
Under the Code, a disabled person may apply for a serially numbered nontransferable temporary or permanent windshield placard for his or her personal use. A disabled person with a windshield placard is entitled to courtesy in the parking of a vehicle, which relieves the person of liability for a parking violation except in violation of the Code.
The placard must bear the first letter and the last three digits of the disabled person's driver's or chauffeur's license number, or the first letter and the last four digits of the number on his or her official State personal identification card. The bill would require the placard to bear the first letter and the last three digits of the disabled person's driver's or chauffeur's license or official State personal identification card number.
The bill would take effect 90 days after it was enacted.
