MARIHUANA HEALTH WARNINGS H.B. 5222 (S-2):
SUMMARY OF BILL
REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE
House Bill 5222 (Substitute S-2 as reported)
Sponsor: Representative Thomas A. Albert
House Committee: Law and Justice
CONTENT
The bill would amend the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act to require the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to promulgate a rule requiring all marihuana sold through provisioning centers to include on the packaging a warning for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who plan on becoming pregnant. The warning would have to state that "use may result in fetal injury, preterm birth, low birth weight, or development disabilities for the child".
The bill also would require the Department to promulgate rules to establish notice posting and information pamphlet standards for provisioning centers, including a requirement to provide to every patron at the time of sale a pamphlet that included safety information related to marihuana use by minors and the Poison Control hotline number.
In addition, the rules establishing notice posting and informational pamphlet standards would have to require a provisioning center to display a marihuana health risks posting at the provisioning center's point-of-sale location.
