A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 5427.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 5427. (1) By 90 days after the effective date of this
section, the department, in consultation with the Michigan chapter
of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, shall develop
and disseminate a public awareness campaign for health
professionals, health facilities and agencies, local health
departments, and the general public on sickle cell disease. The
department shall include all of the following in the public
awareness campaign developed under this section:
(a)
Information about the disease and the methods
of care and
treatment modalities available.
(b) The sickle cell resources in this state for
distribution
and referral purposes.
(c) Any other information the department considers
appropriate.
(2) By 90 days after the effective date of this section, the
department
shall develop a program to coordinate services
available
to residents of this state from sickle cell disease
programs,
including state, federal, and voluntary programs.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
