ELIMINATE AUTHORITY TO REFUSE REIMBURSEMENT FOR CHIROPRACTIC SERVICES
House Bill 4449 (proposed substitute H-1)
Sponsor: Rep. Beth Griffin
Committee: Insurance
Complete to 4-17-19
SUMMARY:
House Bill 4449 would amend the Insurance Code to remove certain chiropractic services from a list of services that are not required to be reimbursed under no-fault personal injury protection (PIP) insurance.
Currently, PIP insurance is not required to cover or reimburse expenses for chiropractic services that were not included in the scope of practice for chiropractors as defined in the Public Health Code on January 1, 2009 (that is, before that scope of practice definition was amended and expanded by 2009 PA 223).[1]
The bill would remove all chiropractic services from the statutory list of services for which PIP coverage or reimbursement is not required.
The bill would take effect 90 days after being enacted.
