CONTENT
The bill would amend the Revised School Code to require that, beginning with the 2019-2020, instead of the 2018-2019, school year, 40% of the annual year-end evaluation for teachers would have to be based on student growth and assessment data.
The Code requires the board of a school district or intermediate school district (ISD) or board of directors of a public school academy (PSA), with the involvement of teachers and school administrators, to adopt and implement for all teachers and school administrators a rigorous, transparent, and fair performance evaluation system.
The board of a school district or ISD or board of directors of a PSA must ensure that the performance evaluation system for teachers includes at least an annual year-end evaluation for all teachers. The Code requires 25% of the annual year-end evaluation to be based on student growth and assessment data. Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, 40% of the annual year-end evaluation must be based on student growth and assessment data.
Under the bill, for the 2018-19 school year, 25% of the annual year-end evaluation would have to be based on student growth and assessment data. Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, 40% of the annual year-end evaluation would have to be based on student growth and assessment data.
