The bill would amend the Michigan Liquor Control Code to allow the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) to issue to Northern Michigan University's Governing Board a license for the sale of alcoholic liquor for the consumption on the licensed premises of a restaurant located on land owned and operated by the University if certain conditions applied.

Specifically, subject to Section 531, the MLCC could issue to Northern Michigan University's Governing Board a license for the sale of alcoholic liquor for the consumption on the licensed premises of a restaurant located on land owned and operated by the University if both of the following applied:

--    The license was originally acquired on the open market at fair market value.

--    The restaurant was located within an area designated for community development or conference activities by University's Governing Board.

(Section 531 specifies certain limitations on the number of liquor licenses that the MLCC may issue.)
