House Bill 5502 and House Bill 5503 would amend the Fire Prevention Code and the Single State Construction Code Act, respectively, to specify that a labelled fire door assembly with a temporary locking device or systems that was installed in a school building would not violate the respective Acts.

The bills are tie-barred to each other and to House Bill 4689. (House Bill 4689, which was enacted as Public Act 45 of 2000, allows a temporary locking device or system to be installed in a school building.)
