A bill to amend 1917 PA 78, entitled

"An act to establish and to provide for the conduct and maintenance of work farms, factories or shops in counties of this state and to authorize the confinement of convicted persons therein and to provide for the punishment of such persons for breaking or attempting to break out; and to permit counties not operating work farms, factories or shops to contract for the care of their prisoners with counties operating such farms, factories or shops,"

by amending section 8 (MCL 801.208).

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 8. The county board of supervisors commissioners of any a county of the state, that does not owning or operating own or operate a work farm, factory, or shop under the provisions of this act , shall have full power and authority to may enter into an agreement with any a commission organized under this act to receive and keep in or on their the commission's work farm, factory, or shop , any person or persons who may be has been sentenced to confinement by any court or magistrate in any of said counties, a term of imprisonment for any term of not more than 6 months. Whenever such If a county board of commissioners enters into an agreement shall have been made it shall be the duty of under this section before January 1, 2022, the county board of supervisors for any county in behalf of which such agreement shall have been made, to give commissioners shall provide public notice thereof in some of the agreement by publication in a newspaper published within said the county. Beginning January 1, 2022, if a county board of commissioners enters into an agreement under this section, the county board of commissioners shall post notice of the agreement as provided in the local government public notice act.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 6440 (request no. 02449'19) of the 100th Legislature is enacted into law.
