A bill to amend 1998 PA 58, entitled
"Michigan liquor control code of 1998,"
by amending section 1107 (MCL 436.2107).
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 1107. (1) Upon the filing with the county clerk of a petition signed by not less than 20% of the registered and qualified electors of any a county of the entire vote cast for the office of secretary of state in that the county at the last general election requesting the submission to the electors of that the county of the question of the manufacture or sale of alcoholic liquor, or both, within that the county, the county clerk shall submit the question at the next regular state election held in that the county. A petition filed under this subsection shall must be filed at least 60 days before the election. A ballot question under this subsection shall may not be submitted to the electors more often than once in any 4-year period.
(2) All votes on the question shall submitted under subsection (1) must be taken, counted, and canvassed in the same manner as votes cast for county offices are taken, counted, and canvassed. The vote on that the question shall must be by ballot, which ballots shall must be furnished by the board of election commissioners of the county and shall must be substantially in 1 of the following forms:
(a) "1. Shall "Shall the manufacture of alcoholic liquor be prohibited in the county of ............?

(b) 2. Shall "Shall the sale of alcoholic liquor be prohibited in the county of ...........?

(c) 3. Shall "Shall the manufacture and sale of alcoholic liquor be prohibited in the county of .........?

(3) The effective date of the a prohibition under this section of the manufacture or sale, or both, as applicable, shall be is 30 days after the board of county canvassers has determined that a majority of those voting on that the question have voted in favor of the prohibition. The Before January 1, 2022, the county clerk shall give notice of the effective date of the prohibition by publishing the date at least once in a newspaper published in that the county or, if no newspaper is published within the county, in a newspaper published in an adjoining county. After December 31, 2021, the county clerk shall give notice of the effective date of the prohibition by providing notice as set forth in the local government public notice act.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 6440 (request no. 02449'19) of the 100th Legislature is enacted into law.
