POLEHANKI, BRINKS, BAYER, IRWIN, SANTANA, CHANG and JOHNSON and referred to
the Committee on Elections.
A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled
"Michigan election law,"
(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 932g.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 932g. (1) An individual, other
than a county, city, or township clerk, or his or her authorized designee,
shall not open, tamper with, relocate, or confiscate an absent voter ballot
drop box for use by an elector to deliver his or her absent voter ballot return
envelope.
(2) An individual
shall not intentionally block, impede, or obstruct an elector from using an
absent voter ballot drop box to deliver his or her absent voter ballot return
envelope.
(3) An individual who violates subsection (1) or (2) is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 10 years.
