CONTENT
The bill would amend Public Act 139 of 1972, which allows township boards to provide for the maintenance and improvement of private roads, to modify the allocation of cost for maintaining or improving a private road after receiving a petition in a special assessment district.
Under the Act, after receiving a petition, the township board of a township may enter into a contract or maintain or improve a private road with the allocation of cost to be spread against all of the owners in the special assessment district benefiting on a pro rata frontage basis. Under the bill, the allocation of cost also could be spread against each owner equally in the special assessment district benefiting.
